Dr. Navid Rahmani board certified dental implant specialist. Dr. Rahmani is a tireless advocate for good periodontal health and with good reason since its recent links with heart disease and its complications. He is dedicating his professional career to having his patients maintain proper oral care while also allowing them to create the healthy and esthetic smile they desire. Today there are many options for patients that did not exist in the past and these very options can often lead to confusion for the patient. Dr. Rahmani’s philosophy is to sit down with each patient and explain those options using the most up to date diagnostic tools available and then provide the best treatment to suit that patient’s particular need. Saving the natural teeth is always his first choice but if that is just not possible he will always present the most modern alternatives available for his patient. Dr. Rahmani provides a full range of periodontal procedures to treat all the forms of periodontal gum disease.
One of the main signs of gum disease is the development of pockets or spaces around teeth as the gums lose their firm attachment to teeth. These spaces or gaps are called periodontal pockets. When periodontal pockets develop, gums are more likely to bleed, letting harmful bacteria into your bloodstream. These inflammatory bacteria can then negatively affect general health, increasing the risk of or worsening existing health problems.
Receding gums is an extremely serious condition that can eventually result in tooth loss because it will begin to eat away the bone surrounding your teeth. It is a bacterial infection that normally results due to poor oral hygiene. As an expert, periodontist Dr. Rahmani will thoroughly examine your gum tissue and identify the exact reason why your gum recession is occurring. He can assess the extent of the damage, including whether it has affected the underlying structures such as the connective tissues in between your gums and teeth and the bone surrounding your teeth and provide the most advanced treatments.
