Battling with teeth insecurities is very common; in fact, thousands of people in the world are insecure about their teeth.

This is nothing new, as people tend to feel more confident with straighter and whiter teeth, and thanks to technology, many advances in dentistry help people with their teeth problems. One such treatment is Invisalign Coquitlam.

What is Invisalign?

Invisalign is an orthodontic treatment that helps realign crooked teeth.  The aligners, made of almost invisible polyurethane plastic are completely removable, unlike other cemented treatments.

How Invisalign Works?

Invisalign combines advanced 3-D computer graphics technology with the old science of orthodontics to provide convenient and low profile yet an extremely effective orthodontic treatment.

Invisalign aligners are different for every mouth, and the doctor will create a plan, which digitally displays how the patient’s teeth move in their mouth throughout the process. The patient receives a series of custom aligners, each accurately calibrated to fit the mouth at each stage of the treatment.

Invisalign Process

Although not intended for children, Invisalign may not be suitable for all adults either. Some patients need traditional braces before switching to Invisalign. To determine your suitability for the treatment, your Invisalign provider will assess your teeth’s nature and the shape of your mouth. If you are a good candidate, treatment then begins.

After inputting precise treatment instructions, Invisalign uses advanced computer technology to create a sequence of calibrated aligners that are custom made. The number of aligners ranges from 12 to 48 depending on an individual.

You wear each of these alignersdaily for about two weeks, only removing them to eat, floss and brush. Your teeth begin to move gradually as you move from one aligner to the next until the attainment of the final prescribed alignment.

Caring for Your Teeth During Invisalign Treatment

As the aligners are removable, always brush your teeth after every meal to avoid trapping of food and plaque in the aligner, which could promote teeth decay and gum diseases.  For the aligners, brush and rinse in lukewarm water regularly.

Advantages of Invisalign Treatment

Improved oral hygiene- As the aligners are removable, you will be able to clean your teeth more easily.

More dietary choices- You can eat anything with Invisalign aligners, unlike metal wires and braces.

A discreet look- This is a suitable treatment for those who consider orthodontic treatment to be a private matter or those concerned about their self-image.

Comfort-The thin and flexible material that makes Invisalign does not irritate the soft tissues of the mouth, providing maximum comfort during the entire process.
With Invisalign treatment, the importance of retaining your post-treatment results is paramount; therefore, ensure that you wear your retainers as prescribed after your treatment to protect your investment.
