Having sensitive teeth can make some tasks difficult. You might need to watch the temperature of the food you eat, buy sensitive oral care products and even watch how you chew food. If you’re afraid to whiten your teeth because of sensitivity, that’s okay, we have some remedies to help you!

Introduction

Although going to a dentist can give you fast results, it can become expensive. Sometimes you need to go for repeat procedures before you reach the shade of white you would like. Plus, sometimes a dentistry procedure can be harsh on sensitive teeth. You can save a lot of money if you buy an at home whitening kit or make your own.

If you don’t go to the dentist to have your teeth whitened, you should typically see results in about a week. If you don’t see any change after two weeks, consult your dentist as there may be an underlying issue. Don’t continue to use a product if you see no results after two weeks, you’ll just be wasting more and more money. Also, remember to avoid foods and drinks that can cause teeth discoloration in order to maintain a healthy smile.

Ways to Whiten Sensitive Teeth

Store Bought Products

While there are a lot of home whitening kits out there with strong chemicals, there are also ones that are made for sensitive teeth! You want to keep those sensitive teeth as pearly white as possible, so look for a product that is made for sensitive teeth. It’s also a good idea to research the ingredients to know exactly what you’re putting in your mouth.

Homemade Sensitive Teeth Whitening Solutions

There are many ways to make an at home whitening product, and many are perfect for sensitive teeth.

Coconut Oil

Coconut oil has antibacterial properties that will help whiten your teeth. To see the best results, you’ll want to swish one tablespoon for five minutes every morning. Swish it around just like you would with mouthwash. If you don’t like the after taste, rinse your mouth out with water. To avoid having to hold oil in your mouth everyday you can use coconut and charcoal whitening strips instead.

Bananas

Bananas have magnesium, potassium, and manganese which help remove stains from your enamel. You’ll want to take a purely yellow banana peel and cut a rectangle out. Once a week, you’ll use the inside of a banana peel to rub over your teeth for two minutes before brushing.
