To further that goal, we want to ensure that patients know how to pick a dentist who is a good fit for them. Here are five things everybody should look for when picking a new dentist.

What is the doctor’s specialty?

Practitioners of general dentistry are competent in everything except highly specialized treatments but usually focus on a particular subject. In the case of Dr. Thomas Williams, that subject is restoring and maintenance of implants. Dr. Williams is distinguished by his history as a dental laboratory technician and has been closely involved with implant development and educating other dentists nearly since the technology was introduced thirty years ago.

What technology is available in-house?

The equipment available at a dental clinic could make the difference between getting restorations immediately and having to wait two weeks. Dedicated Dental Services is able to perform most laboratory functions in-house and is also a certified provider of the Invisalign orthodontic correction devices.

Which professional organizations does the dentist belong to?

Most dentists are members of several professional organizations. Which ones they belong to may influence which journals they read and what their continuing education curriculum consists of. Dr. Williams is a member of the American Dental Association (ADA) through its local chapter and the Ninth District Dental Association. The ADA is the largest professional association of dentists in America and the leading authority on product safety and effectiveness. Dr. Williams has also been repeatedly endorsed by Hudson Valley Magazine’s Top Dentist and the Consumers’ Research Council of America.

Will they accept my insurance?

Naturally, this is one of the most important influencing factors on how you will pick a dentist. Dedicated Dental Services does not participate in HMOs, but we will file for reimbursements from insurance companies on behalf of our patients and have flexible payment options. We also participate in CareCredit and have a financial coordinator that patients may speak with.

Is the office accessible?

Convenience is of great importance when picking a dental office, particularly if you’re going in for surgery. Our office has a parking immediately in front of our building. On Tuesdays, we stay open until 7:30 pm.
