TEETH WHITENING
Roach Family Dentistry uses a Zoom Teeth Whitening system. This system works like magic and can brighten your smile up to 10 shades in about an hour. Unlike teeth-whitening products sold in drug stores, professional whitening offers a safer and more vibrant solution. This is because dentists typically use something called “carbamide peroxide”. Carbamide peroxide is stronger than the low dosage of hydrogen peroxide which is commonly used in most at-home teeth whitening solutions. Dentists also frequently use advanced blue LED light which increases the lightening effect.

DENTAL CLEANING
Your appointment will begin with an examination, followed by X-rays if needed. Next, your dental hygienist will properly clean your teeth using an ultrasonic device. This device, paired with a gentle spray of cool water, will eliminate large pieces of tartar. Afterwards, each tooth is given special attention as your teeth are individually cleaned with utensils that remove plaque and any remaining tartar. Finally, your teeth will be flossed, polished, and rinsed. If necessary, a fluoride treatment may be applied in order to further protect your dazzling smile.

FILLINGS
Roach Family Dentistry believes in only using the safest, most durable filling materials. This includes: tooth-colored porcelain, ceramic, and a material called “resin”. Resin is a composite material consisting of glass and plastic that can be color-matched to the natural shade of the tooth. Our practice does not restore teeth with any type of silver amalgam fillings (which contain mercury).

WISDOM TEETH
While wisdom teeth that are healthy aid in chewing, tilted wisdom teeth can cause damage to the other teeth growing alongside them. According to research, if impacted wisdom teeth are not removed they can increase the risk of tooth decay and gum disease. NASHVILLE TOOTH REMOVAL At Roach Family Dentistry Don’t let the name deceive you — wisdom teeth won’t make you any wiser. Wisdom teeth are the third set of molars on each side of the top and bottom jaws and are the final teeth to come in around your late teens to early 20s. Wisdom teeth that come in straight at the proper time are actually quite essential; however, wisdom teeth often become impacted and get trapped underneath the gum and jawbone. Why Is Wisdom Teeth Removal Important? While wisdom teeth that are healthy aid in chewing, tilted wisdom teeth can cause damage to the other teeth growing alongside them. According to research, if impacted wisdom teeth are not removed they can increase the risk of tooth decay and gum disease. According to the American Dental Association, patients should begin to have their wisdom teeth evaluated at 16. This way, a dentist will be on the lookout for any indication that the teeth are impacted, over-crowded, or that cavities / gum disease have begun to settle within the wisdom teeth or tissues surrounding the area. If it is discovered that removal is necessary, patients should do so around the age of 20. This is because the roots are underdeveloped and procedure complications are less likely to transpire. What Happens If I Don't Have My Wisdom Teeth Removed? While you don’t have to have your wisdom teeth removed, it is imperative to maintain good oral hygiene if you choose to opt out of the removal. This can be achieved through daily flossing as well as twice-daily brushing. It is important to schedule regular dental visits as professional cleanings will to allow for your dentist to conduct a thorough inspection of your mouth and identify issues early on.

CROWNS & BRIDGES
Crowns and bridges, just like natural teeth, must be flossed daily and brushed at least twice a day. If you have a removable bridge, it should be brushed thoroughly and rinsed off with clear water each time it is taken out before you put it back into place. It is important that the gums underneath the removable bridge are also brushed and rinsed. In either case, it is also important to be consistent with professional cleanings and examinations. This means making an appointment with your dentist every six months.
