CEREC at Falkirk Dental Care
Falkirk Dental Care
CEREC is an acronym meaning Ceramic Reconstruction, CEREC is a dental restoration product that allows a dental practitioner to produce an indirect ceramic restoration using a variety of computer assisted technologies, including 3D photography and Computer Aided Design/Computer Aided Modelling.
Traditionally when you need restorative treatment in the form of a crown over your existing tooth structure, you go to the dentist, the dentist will prepare the cavity, after numbing you, they then take an impression and send the impression to to dental lab for the crown to be manufactured. This normally takes 1-2 weeks, in the meantime the tooth is dressed with a temporary dressing and the dentist tells you not to bite on the tooth too hard as you may break it! You loose a few pounds as you can't eat properly, you go back to the dentist, get numbed up again and hope that the porcelain restoration fits and you can have the tooth back doing what it does best - chewing! Well not in this case we can do it for you in one visit, no need to get you back in twice! No need to numb you twice - and even better, the cost is no more then the traditional method! The porcelain bonds to the tooth giving it additional strength and a cosmetic finish.
